GPT Brings Award Winners to Market

Graphic Printing Technologies (GPT) is pleased to announce that at the recent awards ceremony at the SGIA Expo in the USA, Mimaki picked up five prestigious awards, across a number of categories. This represents a great achievement for Mimaki and further cements its standing in the industry and its reputation for launching high quality new products.

The Mimaki JFX-1631Plus, and its smaller sister machine, the JFX-1615Plus both received separate awards for “Best Grand Format Roll-to-Roll UV cured ink” and “Best Flatbed rigid with white ink UV below USD$200K” respectively. These awards for the new JFXPlus range signify the recent successful launch of the product that sports higher productivity and spectacular quality – and is suitable for both volume board printing output and high end, specialist printing.

The Mimaki JV33-160 and its bigger brother, the 2.6m wide JV33-260 both received awards for “Best Poster size solvent or latex printer” and “Best Grand Format Roll-to-Roll solvent or latex ink” respectively. The JV33 series is available in sizes from 1.3m up to the aforementioned 2.6m machine and delivers a winning combination of speed and high quality, coupled to low running costs and excellent creativity.

Mimaki’s final award was for the “Best digital ink - flexible UV ink for Backlit/Display” category and went to the pioneering LF-200 ink set that runs on the LED cure UV machines that include the roll-to-roll / flatbed UJV-160 and the award winning ‘JFX Plus’ series of flatbed printers.

Graphic Printing Technologies is Acquired by Amari Plastics plc

After just over two years of trading, which have already seen it become one of the UK’s leading wide format printing solutions providers, Graphic Printing Technologies (GPT) has announced its acquisition by Amari Plastics plc. The move gives GPT the commercial backing it needs to meet the next key phase of its business strategy, allowing it to expand its physical presence and market coverage.

Plans are already in place for GPT to move into a new and larger building, which will offer increased office and warehouse space, as well as boasting one of the UK’s largest and most advanced product showroom and demonstration facilities. GPT will also benefit from working with Amari Plastics’ established business management and administration systems.

Stuart Cole, General Manager of GPT, comments, “The key message to our customers, suppliers and the market in general is that this acquisition will allow us to not only maintain, but improve on the core principles of our business. GPT will still be in control of its own destiny and we will continue to provide the unrivalled service and support that has helped us grow to the position that made us attractive to Amari. The only real difference is that we now have the backing of a multi-national corporation, which means we will have much greater influence in the industry, particularly in terms of financial strength and business security.”

The acquisition took place on Friday 2nd July and is effective immediately. Graphic Printing Technologies will trade under the same name, but as part of Amari Plastics plc, not as a limited company. Until the move to new premises, all phone numbers, contacts and emails will remain the same.

Stuart Cole concludes, “It was always our intention to build a business that would catch the attention of acquisitive organisations like Amari Plastics. My only real surprise is that it has come as soon as it has. However, this is very much due to the better than expected performance we have achieved in the market, despite operating through one of the worst recession in living memory. We have all worked really hard to achieve what we have so far and are very much looking forward to taking GPT on to the brand new levels that it was simply not possible to achieve on our own.”

When we first took back a printer in part exchange for a new Mimaki we weren’t quite sure of the best way to deal with it. We took the view that if we refurbish it, get it looking and working like a new printer and offer a guarantee, we could probably get a fair price, while still giving customers a bargain.

As it has turned out, used and refurbished equipment has ultimately turned out to be a good contributor to our overall growth. We have now sold over 30 second hand printers and have lots of happy customers as a result. Our refurbished printers can still do a great job for people, and with budgets the way they are right now, saving money on the cost of a printer is an attractive proposition for a lot of people.

GPT secures significant sales at Sign UK

Despite a slightly slow start and lower visitor numbers at Sign UK 10, GPT had a really successful show. The people that came were clearly serious about buying and many of them saw what they wanted on the GPT stand.

As a direct result of the show, we sold an Agfa Anapurna M, and numerous Mimaki JV33 & CJV models.

Sign UK is a massive investment, particularly for a company like ours. We appreciate the help we get from our manufacturers and distributors and are delighted that we could repay their support with a large, busy and vibrant stand – and some good sales!

Million Pound Growth for GPT

GPT recently celebrated its second birthday and, despite one of the worst trading years ever for the overall UK/ world economy, our business has managed to grow by £1.1million. We must be doing something right!

The feedback I hear is that customers feel a sense of security from working with us. We may be young, but we already well-established and have excellent relationships with both our distributors and the manufacturers. We are focused on making sure customers spend their money wisely, purchasing systems that are right for their requirements and supporting them so that they are up and running and making money as quickly and as possible.

In addition, our after-sales care is second to none. We always go that extra mile and do our best to keep customers printing and earning as much as they can.

First Agfa Anapurna success for GPT

After announcing our new reseller arrangement for Agfa’s Anapurna UV-cure range of printers at Sign UK, we are really pleased to announce our first sale. We can’t name the customer just yet, but we are delighted at this early success. I believe our relationship with Agfa is going to be a big success for both companies and we are looking forward to more sales over the coming months. Our second Anapurna sale is firmly on the horizon.

The Anapurna is a great system that fits the requirements of the new customer very well, enabling great quality, durable prints onto a range of rigid and roll-fed substrates. As soon as the printer is installed and working, we will bring more information.

We carried out our first full live demonstration on the new Mimaki UJF3042 (A3 bed x 50mm deep) UV cure LED printer yesterday. It was really impressive and I think we have an excellent product for the future. The white ink works really well, and the quality was great.

The customer was very impressed and i think he will be one of the first to have a machine in the UK. We sold the very first one in the UK without the customer even seeing the printer. He just felt that the size at A3 & the price at £22,995 was right, and our recommendation was enough!
